Japan is a foreign place in more ways than any outsider will ever understand. In every way, the culture and surroundings were new to me, down to the most minute details like which side of an escalator you use. Deciphering the maze-like metro system is something that I think will take several more trips back to Tokyo before I even can feel comfortable with not getting lost. For feeling like such an outsider, totally unfamiliar with just about everything around me, Japan was also one of the most welcoming places I have ever visited. This is a collection of photos from those brief encounters on the streets in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima.
